Cthulhu is a monster sleeping at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, capable of influencing the human mind. It was first mentioned in Howard Lovecraft's story "The Call of Cthulhu" (1928), after which the topic was widely explored by a variety of authors in the so-called "Cthulhu Mythos". The Creator endowed Cthulhu with body parts from various species. In some places he is like an octopus, in others he is like a dragon, and in others he is like a man. His body is green, gelatinous and miraculously regenerates.
Cthulhu belongs to the family of the Ancients. He lies in a death-like sleep on top of the underwater city of R'lyeh in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. When the stars are in the right position, the city appears above the water, and then Cthulhu is freed.
