Hot rod - a car, originally American, with major modifications designed to achieve the highest possible speed. The origin of the term “hot rod” is not completely clear. One theory is that it is short for English. hot roadster. The term became common in 1930-1940 to refer to a car with a forced engine.<br>  It was most often roadsters that were chosen most often for conversion to hot labor because of their small mass. Often, for added relief, the wings, hoods and other hinged parts of the body were removed from the cars, which gave such machines a very specific appearance, which later became a kind of “classic”.
