Zdzislav Beksinsky - one of the greatest Polish artists for the last several decades, the photographer and the sculptor innovator.

Zdzislav Bekszynski was born on February 24, 1929 in the small town of Sanok in Poland.
There are this type of artists who, despite a controversial legacy, are usually either admired or hated. Zdzislav Beksinsky is clearly from their number. He is rightfully considered a genius of gloomy surrealism, which continued the traditions of working with the subconscious and hidden sexuality to create his works.

He did not give a name to any of his paintings and rarely went to exhibitions.

Although Beksinsky's creations often look dark, he himself was known as a pleasant, witty and a little shy person. The artist considered many of his works misunderstood and called them quite optimistic and even funny

Until the mid-1980s, the artist was in a period that he called "fantastic." At this time, he created his most famous creations with disturbing images in a surreal and post-apocalyptic environment with very detailed scenes of death, decay, distorted figures and desert landscapes filled with skeletons.

These paintings are distinguished by high detail and painted with its proprietary clarity. At that time, Beksinsky said: "I would like to draw in such a manner as if it were photographed dreams"

Bekszynski died in his own Warsaw apartment, where he was discovered with seventeen stab wounds in February 2005. The 19-year-old son of the commandant of the house in which the artist lived was found guilty. The reason for the attack was Beksinsky's refusal to give money in debt.

He once said, "What matters is what appears in your soul, not what your eyes see."
