Zdzislav Beksinsky (Zdzisław Beksiński) – one of the greatest Polish artists for the last several decades, the photographer and the sculptor innovator.

Zdzislav Beksinsky was born on February 24, 1929 in the small town of the Sledge in Poland.
There is such type of artists whom despite disputable heritage usually either admire, or hate. Zdzislav Beksinsky obviously from their number. He by right is considered the genius of gloomy surrealism which carried on traditions of work with subconsciousness and the hidden sexuality for creation of the works.

He didn't give any of the pictures the name and seldom went to exhibitions.

Though Beksinsky's creations often look gloomy, he had a reputation for the person pleasant, witty and a little timid. The artist considered many works misunderstood and called them rather optimistic and even amusing

To the middle of the 1980th years the artist stayed in the period which called "fantastic". At this time he created the most known creations with disturbing images in the surrealistic and post-apocalyptic environment with very detailed scenes of death, disintegration distorted by the figures and desert landscapes filled with skeletons.

These pictures differ in high specification and are painted with his signature clearness. At that time Beksinsky said: "I would like to draw in such manner as if it is the photographed dreams"

Beksinsky died in own Warsaw apartment where he was found with seventeen chipped wounds in February, 2005. Guilty found the 19-year-old son of the commandant of the house in whom there lived the artist. Beksinsky's refusal to lend money became the reason of attack.
